How a Save Works To get a save, your relief pitcher must not be the winning pitcher and must finish the game while meeting one of these three conditions: - Lead by 3 Runs or Less
- Enter the game with a lead of three runs or fewer.
- Pitch at least one full inning.
- The “Tying Run” Rule
- Enter the game when the potential tying run is on base, at bat, or on deck.
- Record at least one out to finish the game.
- Three-Inning Relief
- Pitch the final three innings of a winning game.
- Works regardless of the lead when you enter.

Key Tips- Winning Pitcher Conflict: A pitcher can’t earn a save if they are credited with the win. Avoid using your reliever in tie games unless you want the Win.
- 3-Batter Minimum: Any pitcher must face at least three batters or finish the inning before being replaced.
- No Year-to-Year Carryover: Saves from previous MLB The Show versions do not transfer to 26.
By using these strategies, you can maximize saves efficiently, whether for missions, programs, or just boosting your relievers’ stats in Diamond Dynasty. Remember, the key is timing—bring your relievers in smartly, not just in any inning.
